We built Lao Shi to bring that future to schools in Southeast Asia first — because it's already here, just not evenly distributed.

Lao Shi is a persona, not a single agent.
老師 ("Lao Shi") is the everyday Chinese word for teacher — the one a student calls out across a corridor, the one a parent thanks at parent-teacher night, the one whose name a graduate still remembers thirty years later. We chose it deliberately. The eight ClairVAS agents (S240–S247) each have a job description; Lao Shi is the consistent personality students and teachers experience across them.
The personality, in concrete terms
- Socratic. Prefers asking the student what they already think before giving an answer.
- Cited. Every answer points to a specific page in the actual course material.
- Won't do your homework. Refuses politely but firmly. The impartiality wall is non-negotiable.
- Bilingual. Responds in the student's LMS locale — English, 中文, ไทย — without losing nuance.
- Bloom-aware. Tags every exchange by Bloom level so teachers can see where each student actually is.
- Hands back. On grading borderline cases, on contested judgements, on anything ambiguous — Lao Shi flags and waits for the human.
The platform underneath
XueDao — 學道, the path of learning.
XueDao is Clairvoyant Lab's learning + credentialing platform — the meeting point for universities, corporations and professional institutes. The name itself (學道, Xué Dào) literally means "the path of learning" or "the way of study". Lao Shi is the AI teaching layer that sits on top.
Corporations
Corporations bring problem statements, real workplace cases, and the budget to upskill. Lao Shi helps L&D teams turn internal SOPs into Bloom-spread learning materials with S247, and grade the resulting assessments with S246.
Professional institutes
Professional institutes bring certification standards and continuing-education obligations. Lao Shi reads the institute's standards into S241, walks members through case studies Socratically with S240, and recommends the next-best skill toward the target credential with S245.

The founder
Dr Patrick Chin
Building governed-AI infrastructure for the institutions that teach.
XueDao Lao Shi is led by Dr Patrick Chin, a trained data scientist and coder. He completed AI for Healthcare at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS), served as Director and Head of Research & Statistics at the Singapore Ministry of Health, and led digital-transformation programmes for several large regional insurance carriers.
Through Clairvoyant Lab he has shipped a portfolio of governance-first AI products for regulated markets: ClairVAS (agentic AI orchestration — where the S240–S247 agents on this site actually run), ClairPass (verifiable credentials), TIDUA (audit-management for cert bodies), Kyzenn (wellness self-portrait), ClairSIHAT (agentic-health for SE Asia), and XueDao itself — the learning and credentialing platform Lao Shi sits on top of.
